2024 Christmas Carol of Nine Lessons

2024 Christmas Carol of Nine Lessons

The 2024 Christmas Carol of Nine Lessons held at our school was a heartwarming and spiritual uplifting event that brought together students, staff, parents, and members of the community to celebrate the true essence of Christmas. The event beautifully displayed on December 11th 2024, was a blend of scripture readings, melodious carols, and dramatic performances that beautifully highlighted the story of Christ’s birth.

The Event Highlights

The evening began with a warm welcome by the school vice principal administration Rev Sr Matilda Nwokeji, who emphasized the significance of the Christmas season as a time for reflection, gratitude, and giving. The program then proceeded with the traditional format of nine lessons, where selected students, teachers, and guests took turns reading passages from the Bible that narrate the story of creation, the fall of humanity, the prophecy of the Messiah, and the birth of Jesus Christ.

Each lesson was followed by a corresponding carol, performed by the school choir, staff and parents. Their harmonious voices filled the air with festive cheer, as they sang classics like “O Come, All Ye Faithful,” “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” and “Silent Night.” The choir performance was accompanied by a live orchestra of talented student musicians, whose skills added depth and richness to the music.

Performances and Participation

The Nativity play, performed by the drama club, was a standout feature of the evening. The young actors, dressed in vibrant costumes, reenacted the story of Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem, the angelic proclamation to the shepherds, and the visit of the wise men. The audience was moved by their dedication and talent.

Additionally, the program featured solo performances by gifted students and a special appearance by the teachers’ choir, whose rendition of “God is wonderful” received a standing ovation.

Community Spirit

The Christmas Carol of Nine Lessons was more than just a school event; it was a celebration of community and togetherness. Parents and guardians expressed their joy and pride in seeing their children participate and excel. The event also served as a platform for charitable giving, with donations collected to support local charities and underprivileged families during the holiday season.

Conclusion

The 2024 Christmas Carol of Nine Lessons was a resounding success, leaving everyone in attendance with a renewed sense of faith, hope, and joy. It was a testament to the school’s commitment to nurturing not just academic excellence but also spiritual and moral values. The evening ended with a communal prayer and the singing of “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” spreading goodwill and festive cheer to all.

We look forward to continuing this cherished tradition in the years to come, fostering the true spirit of Christmas within our school community.
